I'd Rather Be His Girlfriend (Than His Wife)
words & music: Lynn Woolever & Jill Gold

I see him every Monday night and Friday afternoon
As far as I'm concerned that works just fine
We laugh and love and play a lot
Hoping that we don't get caught
With his lips of passion kissing mine

I'd rather be his girlfriend than his wife
At least he can't control my whole life
He can't tell who to see, what to do or where to be
I'd rather be his girlfriend than his wife

She does his laundry, cooks his meals
And watches all the kids
Taking care of things that must get done
I handle all his other needs
He knows that I aim to please
Lovin' on the sly is so much fun

I'd rather be his girlfriend than his wife
At least he can't control my whole life
He can't tell who to see, what to do or where to be
I'd rather be his girlfriend than his wife

Sure I'd love to have him with me
On Christmas Day
And maybe even have him spend the night
Then someone other gal'd be sayin'
I'd rather be his girlfriend
What that means is I would be the wife
No!

I'd rather be his girlfriend than his wife
At least he can't control my whole life
He can't tell who to see, what to do or where to be
I'd rather be his girlfriend
I'd rather be his girlfriend
I'd rather be his girlfriend than his wife
